TEXTILE DYES

DYES

    1) DIRECT DYES :

Direct dye is a synthetic dyes. Direct dyes have D-SO3Na group. Direct dyes are water soluble dyes and least expensive one Direct dyes are easy to applied directly on the fabric, without any pre -  treatment. Direct dyes are widely used on cellulosic fibers. Dye fixing agents are not required to fix this category of dye. Fabric dyed with direct dyes does not have bright colors.

    2) VAT DYES :

Vat dyes are insoluble dyes. Vat dyes are artificial dyes. Vat dyes are widely used for cellulose fibers and also be used for protein and nylon fibers. Vat dyes are produce good color range but limited selection. Large amount of dyes are needed to attain deeper shade.

    3) SULFUR DYES :

Sulfur dyes are water insoluble dyes. Sulfur dyes are applied by exhaust dyeing method. Sulfur dyes are widely used for darker shades for cellulosic fibers.

    4) REACTIVE DYES :

Reactive dyes are artificial dyes. Reactive dyes are water soluble dyes, which are anionic in nature. Reactive dyes react with fibers and make covalent type bond with fiber, hence they are called Reactive Dye. Reactive dyes can be classified ad hot brand reactive dyes and cold brand reactive dyes. Reactive dyes are primarily used for cotton and other cellulose fiber at an alkaline pH of 9 -12.

    5) DISPERSE DYES :

Disperse dyes are artificial dyes. Disperse dyes were developed for the dyeing of cellulose acetate but now a days disperse dyes are used to dye nylon, cellulose try acetate and acrylic fibers too. Disperse dyes are widely used for dyeing of polyester material. These dyes are available in the form of powders, granular, liquid or paste form. Dyeing of polyester is generally carried out at high temperature high pressure. These dyes are produces very good range of shades except dark blue and black.
