DYEING OF NYLON FABRIC WITH ACID DYE (SELF SHADE)
Recipe
Percent shade 2.0%
Concentration of acetic acid 3.0%
Concentration of glaubers salt 8.0%
Concentration of leveling agent 2.0%
pH of dyeing 4.0 to 4.5
Temperature of dyeing 98*c
Time of dyeing 45 minutes
M:L.R 1:30
Procedure :
Preparation of Acid Dye solution :
First weight accurately 1.0 gm of acid dye powder on a watch glass or on a glazed paper and transfer it to a porcelain dye pot. Then add 1.0 ml of acetic acid and stir it well to make a homogeneous paste. Then add 98 ml of boiling water with constant stirring to make total volume 100 ml.
Dyeing Process :
First take required ml of water in a dye pot according to M:L.R at room temperature and add 3.0% acetic acid, 8.0% glaubers salt, 2.0% leveling agent and 2.0% Acid dye solution stir it well and raise the temperature of dye bath to 50*c.
Enter well weight scoured nylon fabric in the above dye bath at 50*c and work at this level for 5 minutes. Then slowly raise the temperature of the dye bath to 98*c with in 40 minutes and continue dyeing at this level for 45 minutes. After completion of dyeing time take out the dyed material and give soaping treatment.
Soaping Treatment :
First take required ml of water in a dye pot according to M:L.R at room temperature. Then add 2 gpl non - ionic detergent and raise the temperature of the bath at 60*c. Then entered the dyed material and continue soaping treatment at this level for 15 minutes. Then rinse the hot water and dry the dyed sample.
Conclusion :
At the end of the practical it can be concluded in this practical acid dyes have great affinity towards the nylon fabric. Hence dye is very good absorbed by the material.
