GLOBAL ORGANIC TEXTILE STANDARDS


          The Global Organic Textile Standards is a world wide standard for the processing of textiles from biologically produced natural fibers. The main purpose of this standard is to endure organic status of textile product. The standard covers raw material harvesting, environment and manufacturing process.
 
 
          It defines environmental requirements along the entire textile production chain as well as all criteria. Quality assurance is ensured by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain. This standard generate a label which indicate organic status of textile.

        
         This standard apply and acceptable world wide for organic fibers. These standards introduce in 2006 and accepted world wide. By the use of logo and labeling system GOTS is visible on textile and therefore widely use by industries. GOTS ( Global Organic Textile Standards) covers processing, manufacturing, packaging, labeling, trading and distribution of all types textiles made from at least 70% certified organic fibers.

        This standard does not applicable for leather products. GOTS system checking the criteria by audit as well as testing. GOTS also suitable to environmental criteria. This standard supported reduction of water energy consumption's. This standard produce two types of label as follow.

        Label - 1 means > 70% certified organic fibers < 5% to non organic natural to synthetic fibers.

        Label - 2 > 70% certified organic fibers < 30% non organic fibers.
